Flower care is something that we take very seriously here at the Floral Fixx, so this Valentine's Day we want to offer all of our favourite tips and tricks to help your beautiful flowers last longer!

Here are some ways we recommend how to care for your Valentine's Day flowers so they last:

Bouquets

Our cut flower bouquets are wrapped and packaged within a water bag when sent out of our store. We recommend taking the following steps to ensure longevity in your blooms:

  1. Fill a clean vase 2/3 of the way full of fresh water
  2. Take off the packaging and cut the string holding the stems together
  3. Take some pruning shears or a knife and cut the stems approximately 1-2 inches
  4. Immediately after cutting the stems, place your freshly trimmed bouquet in your clean vase of water
  5. Enjoy your beautiful blooms
  6. Keep an eye on your water level - you can top this up daily!

When picking a place to put your vase of fresh flowers, we advise:

  1. Avoid placing next to fresh fruit
  2. Avoid direct sunlight
  3. Avoid temperatures less than 7 degrees and more than 25 degrees

Arrangements

Our fresh arrangements are our beautiful florals arranged in a ceramic container or glass vase. Just because there is less to do for these pieces does not mean there is nothing! Here are some tips to take care of our beloved arrangements:

  1. Take the arrangement out of the box packaging
  2. Place your arrangement on a table or desk
  3. Assess water levels daily - put your finger into the side of the container and feel where the water is and if the foam is dry - water can be topped up every day
  4. Enjoy your beautiful blooms

When picking a place to put your new arrangement, we advise:

  1. Avoid placing next to fresh fruit
  2. Avoid direct sunlight
  3. Avoid temperatures less than 7 degrees and more than 25 degrees
